HBCU African Innovation City - A City upon a Hill  

The  idea of an HBCU Africa Innovation City Project received a big boost when the Omanhene (Chief) of the Akwamu State in Ghana offered to provide land for an HBCU Africa Innovation City in the Akwamu Traditional Area during a courtesy call by the founder of the HBCU Africa Homecoming Initiative during the inaugural HBCU Africa Homecoming event in Akosombo, Ghana.  Since then,  African Diaspora Nation has entered into an MOU with the Akwamu State and appointed a Program Director to drive the realization of the project.

The  HBCU Africa Innovation City  will be a monumental city to the enlightened present and future of African - African Diaspora Collaboration. It will create value a the intersection of pain points in african and african american educational experiences. The conceptual design for the project will  be arrived at through a competition between the architecture programs of about 12 HBCUs working in partnership with architecture students/faculty and alumni practitioners in Ghana . The architectural design completion will be launched at the HBCU African Homecoming Ghana 2020 Virtual holding from July 23rd - 25th, 2020.

A city with a culture of innovation in STEAAM (Science, Technology, Architecture, Art, Math) and the arts that represents all that is true and lasting value in ancient AFRICAN culture, beliefs and creativity as well as modern African Diaspora Culture, beliefs and creativity

 

A citadel of innovation that represents the output of the best minds in Africa and it’s diaspora working in concert within the context of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

 

A citadel of scholarship, research and practice that architects and upholds an economic system that respects the dignity of the person and the principles of Social and Economic justice.

More details on the project will be unveiled at the HBCU Africa Homecoming event in July 2020.
